Is this old man for real ? And what martial art did he train in?
Tai asked:
The old man in the black gi was he for real when fighting that MMA fighter. And it looked kind of fake you know that controlling with his hands thing.
come onm, if the fight was fixed then what benefit does it have. Why the hell would do that.
forgot to put in link.

Are you talking about his guy?:
What exactly do you mean fro real? I think the fight was real since you can see the blood. The old man was definately wrong since his ‘kiai’ attacks didn’t work. But he probably did believe it would work. That guy wasn’t an mma fighter. I think he trained in Karate.

If it is the old guy that some of the videos say he was an Aikido master, waved his hands all weird, fought some Japanese guy, looked real amateurish, then yeah, it looked real.
I would like to say to anyone that thinks that old guy is doing Aikido, IT IS NOT AIKIDO! I am not sure what martial art he was using. It looked like he was trying to do some type of Kung-Fu.
He really was bad. I guess he thought he was actually good. I don’t know what the deal was.
But, I think it was real. He gets hit pretty hard in that fight. I think it would have been really hard to fake that fight. It has nothing in it to suggest it was fake accept amateurish fighting. But, if you look at most early MMA fights they are amateurish.

iirc it was real. There are 60 year old guys out there
who think that just because they are sijos or 10th degree red belts or masters of chi that they can therefore defeat any MMA fighter. Shidoshi Ron Van Clief
is a real 10-red and founder of his own system, yet
Royce Gracie handled him easily,
without even breathing heavy. (ufc 4)
There is a big, big difference between martial arts and fighting. The two are not necessarily synonymous. What I think it legit about
BJJ is that you must compete for rank- you don’t have
to merely spar, break boards, and do a kata.
IMHO simply being a high rank belt does
not mean you can fight, although there are
black belts who are also great fighters.

there is a longer video, called ‘kiai master vs MMA’ it says the old man made a challenge about $5000 iirc that he could beat any MMA fighter, and basically he thought he was goku and could throw invisible energy balls to defeat an opponent. i don’t know what his style is/was, but it was more mysticism, show, than anything else.

Yes it is real people really do believe their art is a complete one and will protect them in a fight – then reality bites
