What can you say about the tiger kung fu style?

Shaman asked:

I mean it’s damage, speed, effectiveness, stamina required, strength required and overall. And if you can say, compared to other martial arts. Also, which martial art defeats tiger style and which can be beaten by tiger style.

My best friend use to do tiger kung fu for years. He end up switch to Muay Thai gym because he realized it simply wasn’t effective at all.

The problem is most Kung Fu gym doesn’t teach you to fight. They teach you how to do forms and dance and performance art. So that is why they suck so bad in fighting.

But if you can find 1% out of 99% that actual teach something about fighting then go and see what happen. But of course everybody here would claim their school fit in that 1%. And keep in mind, my friend is a Viet and live in area heavily populated by asian his whole life.

Kung Fu is like gymnastics or tricking. It might take lots of strength and shit to master the moves, but are they useful in combat? No!

No martial art is lesser than the other. People will realize that once you stop mimicking the movements like a copy and paste model and start learning to understand it.

It’s like a video game, for example, Street Fighter. The main character will always be easy to use like Ryu (such as the martial art resemblance of muay thai/boxing/ BJJ) but if you know exactly how to play a character without smashing the buttons wildly, you can choose any character to defeat anyone. It just depends on your skill of battle, mentality, and spirit.

So useless? No. Usable? Yes. Don’t blame the art for its weakness or boast for its strength. Everything is on the individual.

    Styles don’t move, people do.

There are actually a few tiger styles. I think any of them can be very effective if learned and performed correctly.

    Southern Tiger
    Northern Tiger
    White Tiger
    Black Tiger
Shaolin Tiger style, etc, etc, etc …
